Shape: The Fedora shape of the Herring is an enduring style, and the natural colours of this version make for a stylish yet relaxed look. The new "Herring" model adds a slightly wider brim to the same silhouette of our Classic Fedora in response to the rising trend for increased protection from the sun.
The Herring's flat brim is slightly stiffer than our Classic Fedora, but is still supple enough to be gently shaped with a little steam should you wish. It's smooth contours will be appreciated by Panama lovers, both new and experienced!
Colour: This edition of the Herring has a dark brown ribbon paired with natural straw. It is a great colourway for being wearable in formal and casual situations. Also available in "nearly white" straw with a black ribbon.
Weave: B&S Herringbone Standard Weave. The Herring distinguishes itself by using a intricate herringbone weave pattern. We have worked with our weavers to bring you this fine hat that is a wonderful balance of weave quality and expense. Whilst not having the fine weaves used in our Signature range, the Herring is still a wonderful Panama that showcases the skill of our weavers. Please do zoom in on the images to see the detailed pattern used. We do consider this hat to be roll-able, however if you are planning on rolling your hat on a regular basis, we would recommend investing in one of our finer weave B&S Signature panama hats. How to find the right size Panama hat for you
If you are not sure what your hat size is, please follow these simple instructions to find your size.
Measure your head at the level you would want the hat to sit when you are wearing it. This can vary a little according to your personal preference, but normally it would be across the middle of the forehead, pass a thumb’s width above your ears and around the widest part of the back of your head. Use a tape measure or a piece of string to find your size in centimetres.
Once you have the measurement in centimetres, this should be the hat size for you. You may wish to move up or down one size if you like a particularly loose or tight fit.
If you know your hat size in a different measuring system, please use the following conversion chart to convert it to our sizing.
