The Explorer is a high-performance hat designed for all season use whilst maintaining a stylish look. It features a traditional “wet wax” cotton fabric (PFC free) made by Britain’s leading traditional waxer to keep you protected.  We've added a contrast underside to the brim to reduce glare and add that special B&S styling. This is the perfect complement to a quality wax jacket for your daily walk.

WATERPROOF FABRIC: Utilising a high-performance traditional wet wax fabric, the Explorer will protect you from everyday rain. However, unlike our waterproof baseball and flat caps, it does not have taped seams so will allow some water penetration in the worst conditions - the Explorer is best thought of as an everyday hat to protect you from the sun and rain, best suited for hiking, country pursuits and holiday adventures.

Forget the cheap materials used in less exclusive hats, the PFC free wax cotton used in the Explorer maintains a soft and natural feel and develops a delightful patina with age.

EASY CARE and TRAVEL FRIENDLY: This all-season hat can be easily surface cleaned with a clothes brush or damp cloth. Strong and durable it is easily stored or packed. The medium brim ensures your eyes are protected whatever the conditions.

DOUBLE STRAP with choice of colour: As a hat specialist we know what it takes to keep a hat on your head in the strongest winds. That's why the Explorer has a double strap system which can be tightened at the front and rear to ensure your hat stays with you when the going gets tough!  Your Explorer arrives with both orange and navy straps that you can interchange as you wish.

United Kingdom - Free standard delivery via Royal Mail is offered on all hats to UK destinations.  Standard delivery normally takes 2-4 days. Next working day delivery is also available at checkout.

EU - Free Standard Delivery is offered on all hats to EU countries.  Normally we will send European deliveries with DPD or a local courier on a fully tracked service.  Delivery times vary from country to country - for most destinations it will be 3-7 days from ordering.  We pay all import duties, taxes and VAT for our EU customers.

USA - Free Standard Delivery:  In the USA delivery is free on all hats.  Normally we will send US deliveries with USPS on a fully tracked service.  Delivery times vary - for most destinations it will be 3-7 days from ordering.  An Express USA (2-4 day) delivery service is also available at checkout.  Orders below $900 do not normally attract import duty or taxes.

Rest of the World - If you would like to order from elsewhere, the cost will be displayed as you go through the checkout process. Please be aware, if you are ordering for delivery outside the UK, EU or USA you may need to pay customs duties or import taxes.

We know that finding the right hat can be difficult and getting that perfect fit is important.  So we are committed to being flexible when it comes to returns and exchanges.  If you are not happy with your purchase for any reason, you can return it (within 90 days of receipt) for an exchange or full refund.

If you are not sure what your hat size is, please follow these simple instructions to find your size.

Measure your head at the level you would want the hat to sit at when you are wearing it.  This can vary a little according to your personal preference, but normally it would be across the middle of the forehead, pass a thumb’s width above your ears and around the widest part of the back of your head. 

Use a tape measure or a piece of string to find your size in centimetres.

Once you have the measurement in centimetres, this should be the hat size for you.  You may wish to move up or down one size if you prefer a particularly loose or tight fit.
